Childhood memories- fairy tales

Daily writing prompt
Describe an item you were incredibly attached to as a youth. What became of it?

When I was in school, I remember me going to library. Our school’s library was not very big. It had a long centre table, and many chairs around it. The book shelves were cornered, adjacent to the walls, making the library very cozy small room. There, I was first introduced with the famous fairy tales like Cindrella, Snow White, Rapunzel.

I was particularly obsessed with the story of Rapunzel. A beautiful, bright, girl with very long golden hair… I was mesmerised by her beauty and life… The way a knight came to rescue her from the atrocities of that witch followed by “HAPPY ENDING”. I grew up keeping this story unconsciously deep inside me, hoping one day, a similar knight would come in my rescue, and make my life bright, charming and happy.

As one grows up, and understand life more closely, one realises that such fairy tales just make high hopes and nothing else. Believing in them with high expectations lead to heart breaks. Fairy tales do not exist in real world. Infact, in today’s selfish world, these books should be torn and burned. They only mislead innocent minds and do not prepare them for shrewd people.

hmmmm…

On the other hand, if this world become devoid of innocent, pure, and hopeful hearts, I dont know what will be the face of the world. There need to be balance between good souls and bad souls. Good souls need to understand that, it depend upon one’s fortune, how much sorrows are written in the destiny.

So, take the name of the God, get up and move on !!!

PS: my dad was against fairy tales. Funny!!
